Dust storm!

We've lived in Montana for almost 3 yrs and i've never seen a dust storm till today. I was working working on glazingthe last few pieces for my next glaze fire and all the sudden it got DARK! I looked out the window and it was BROWN out there! I stuck my head out the door and it felt like my face was sand blasted. The tumbleweeds were wizzing by like crazy and i couldnt even see the neighbor's house across the street. you can barely see it in the picture above. The wind's been howling all day, nothing unusual here, but the dust storm was a new one for me! Then of course it started snowing and now the suns out. Go figure...

  1. Geez! That's different. We don't have anything like that in Iowa, but we'll get a freak thunderstorm in the middle of a beautiful sunny day. :)

  3. Unfortunately we do get dust storm every spring and autumn, they are coming from the east, where all deserts are. Actually one is coming soon with a heat wave on Sunday. These are the most horrible days for me because I am allergic to dust, so I sneeze and "cry" all day long, and usually can't really work. Best of luck with glazing and loading your kiln!!

  4. wow, that is really something. when i lived in arkansas we got straight line winds and those were really something, you could almost see the air blowing but it was clear. I saw a movie about the dust bowl and it blew so much folks wet towels and put them around their windows and it blew so long folks especially children got lung disease from all the dust, mother nature is amazing and unpredictable.
